Socked out

I have no idea what my issue is with socks. . .but I tell ya--I am not going to be defeated!! As you see above (not the clearestpicture), I've at least got the leg. As soon as I get the first one completed, I will definitely post!

Socktoberfest and Chi Chi

A girl can be just too literal at times, I suppose. I got an email from a member of our SnB group wondering if anyone signed up to the Socktoberfest. Now, I'd never heard of it (having not knit a sock and all--okay, so maybe it's because I just am out of the loop--whatever), but thought it would be a good idea to stretch myself. So I think I am the only person who submitted their info in such a way that you cannot go directly to my blog. . .but I wrote it up just as she asked. . .e.g. luluatlulu's.blogspot.com. How was I supposed to know that you are not supposed to do it that way? Or was I also supposed to put my blogspot address in the website blank? There should be a sign-up form for dummies! I'd buy it! This stuff is just too difficult I tell ya!

On another note:

As I am sometimes challenged with this blog, to the person who said, "I like your cat". . .Thanks!

I like your dogs. . .I am just terrified of them! Dogs in general, that is. Not yours. I've unfortunately been bitten in the face by a Shepard when I was a kid (and the tush--by the family dog no less!) and chased by countless others. This is ironic seeing that my dad breeds dogs as a hobby. Not so much anymore (thankfully! He needs to slow down a bit), which make mom happy.

Back to socks:

I just started (for the 3rd time?) a pair of socks. This will be a great warm up for the Socktoberfest. I am using fixation. . .I hope to have a post on its progress very soon. I first saw this color at Sea Needles, but she only had one ball and to have a complete pair, I needed two balls. Two pixies and I trekked over to Celtic Knits in Ellicot City (it was sooo much fun) to check out the shop and pick up the fixatiion. I am looking forward to the outcome. It takes a little getting used to. . .I expected it to be a wee bit different as I knit. That is, I am one who has a tendency to pull tight after each stitch (don't ask), but this doesn't need it. What?! I have to actually ease up! Take it down a notch and simply enjoy the knit! What are you saying? :0

Okay, okay. I will try to actually relax while I knit. Maybe I will create my own mantra:

Knnnnniiiiiittttttt. Puuuuuuurrrrrrrrllllllll.

FO?

Remember that baby blanket? Well, it's haunting me. . .I did complete it and it is now sitting in my closet, with nowhere to go. Tell me. . .can you see the obvious boo boo? Oh, and BTW, it is blue. . .looks white on this pic to me. . .oh well.

Lesson learned: no matter what the LYS owner says. . .go down a size. Only I know how tight I knit. . . sheesh! Oh well. Most people would probably not want to post their "I can't believe I knit the whole thing" item. I mean, when you realize that you cannot return the yarn, you just have to bite the bullet and finish it. Frogging was not an option on this yarn (heaven by plymouth yarn). It doesn't frog very well.

When you haven't posted in a while, man do you have stuff to post! I thought about stringing them out, but as you can see, it still says 9/12/06. If I weren't so lazy, I would just delete and repaste. I'm hoping that I will have something to say or a beginnings of a semi KO to display soon! Hope springs eternal ;)

My Prrreeeccciiiooouuusss!

Introducing Ms. Chi Chi:

She is single, spayed, middle aged and looking forward to her next meal. . . (reminds me of someone I know. . . hmmmm) and if that doesn't work out. . .there is always a nap just waiting to happen meow

Frogging is such sweet sorrow. . .

I promised a knitted object for my next post, but I hoped that it would be a FO that I would be proud to share. Well, sometimes the best intentions will just have to suffice:

Here is the beginning of a second shot at the bag:

I am totally going to finish this one~

7:00 and all is well!

Mom gave me a call this morning to say that she and dad are fine. There was lots of wind and rain, but what's a little flooding between friends and family? She said they received around 6-8 inches of rain. . .hopefully there will be no after shock. . .like the tides bringing in more flooding, etc. I am going to be optimistic and say that the worse is over, and it back to work as usual.

Thanks to all of you who sent your prayers out to me and mine. I am blessed to have such thoughtful and caring friends like you.

I promise to have some knitting news in my next post! :)
